How to install POS software on your computer

Termino's till software runs on the store's computer, Windows or macOS, and the Termino team installs it. You only connect it: add a till in the system, get a six-digit setup code and enter it on the till screen. The code works once, so the till belongs only to your company and one branch.

Why it goes wrong

The problems when setting up a till are usually the same: cashiers don't appear in the list, the code doesn't work, or you're worried about losing your sales history when you replace an old computer. It's also common for the till not to start by itself when the computer is switched on, so in the morning the cashier goes looking for the program. And when a branch gets a second till, it often becomes unclear which sale was made on which computer.

How to do it in Termino

  1. 1

    Get the computer ready

You need a Windows or macOS computer with internet. The Termino team installs the till software, so you won't have to hunt for an installer. Before you start, you need at least one branch in the system. Internet is needed for the first connection; after that, the till sells offline too.

  2. 2

Add the till in the system

Open “Administration” → “Cashdesks” and click “Add cashdesk”. Enter a name, for example "Till 1", and choose the branch. A six-digit “Setup code” appears.

  3. 3

Enter the code on the till

On first launch, the till shows the “Set up this till” screen. Type in the code and click “Connect”. The “Who's selling?” screen appears with this branch's cashiers, and in the system the till's status changes to “Connected”.

  4. 4

    Automatic start

The till starts by itself when the computer is switched on. If you don't want that, open “Functions” → “App settings” in the till menu and turn off “Start automatically”.

  5. 5

    Printer, scanner and display

The receipt printer and barcode scanner connect to the till computer. You choose the printer under “App settings” → “Printer”. There you can also turn on the “On-screen keyboard” for a touchscreen and choose the language, Georgian or English.

  6. 6

    Updates

The till checks for a new version by itself, at startup and every 4 hours. When an update is required, an “Update now” button appears at the top: click it between shifts so sales aren't interrupted.

  7. 7

    Moving to a new computer

On the “Cashdesks” page, choose “Deactivate” in the old till's menu. The old computer makes a backup of its local data and disconnects. Then add a new till and connect the new computer with its code: the old till's sales history is kept.

The full guide, with screenshots, is in the Termino system once you sign in. It is in Georgian for now.

Frequently asked questions

How many times can I use the code?

Once. A Termino setup code connects one till to one computer and stops working after it has been used.

The till says “invalid code”. What should I do?

Check that you entered the code exactly as it appears in the system and that it hasn't already been used. An unused code is shown in the till's row on the “Cashdesks” page.

A cashier isn't in the list. Why?

The “Who's selling?” screen shows only the cashiers assigned to this branch. Assign the cashier to the branch in the system, on the “Employees” page.

Does the till software work on a phone or tablet?

No. Termino's till runs on a Windows or macOS computer. The system, where you manage products and reports, opens in a browser.

How do I rename a till?

In Termino's system, on the “Cashdesks” page, choose “Rename” in the till's menu and save the new name. A connected till picks up the new name at the next sync, and past sales appear in reports under the new name.
